Andrew Holloway’s working life began life as an apprentice to one of the last traditional manufacturer’s of horticultural terracotta in Britain, and with a BA Hons in Ceramics he set up his own workshop.
In 1990 Andrew established a carpentry business manufacturing timber structures for houses, barns, schools and halls. Now employing over 35 staff, Green Oak Carpentry has won a number of prestigious awards including the Institute of Carpenters Gold Award (twice), the British Construction Industry Association Award, twice winner of RIBA National Awards; twice runner up for the Stirling Prize; and winner of the I Struct E Gold Award for excellence in timber engineering. He sees the Enthum Foundation’s Yes Quest as a way to allow other young adults to embark upon their own voyage of discovery, and in so doing make an investment in that most valuable of resources – our young people.
