The YES Quest
The YES Quest is specifically designed to address the life challenges faced by many young people, in a positive and innovative way.
There will be 26 YES Quests taking place in the UK between 2010 and 2013. These Quests will change the lives of more than 500 young people.
The YES Quest is a non-formal learning and personal development programme. Provided in a challenging yet supportive environment, it helps young people to get back in touch with their inner talents and capacities and to re-ignite their passion to set and reach life and work goals.
Each Quest is a 10-day residential programme, held in a beautiful rural environment like the Brecon Beacons in South Wales. It is a process of continued learning where young people are supported and encouraged to explore and enhance their personal and leadership capabilities. They learn and reflect on how to use their strengths and face weaknesses, how to apply their talents and creativity in meaningful ways and to depend on their own wisdom. A central belief of the YES Quest approach is that each of us can discover much more about ourselves using our own inner resources with the right processes and support.
A wide range of exercises and techniques are part of the structured YES Quest programme. The highly trained and experienced facilitators provide a solid grounding in human development, using tools such as Action Learning and psychometric profiling, guided visualisations, mind-mapping and a range of creative activities such as painting, outdoor installations, music, theatre and sports. A key part of the programme also takes place in a wilderness environment, where participants are challenged to push beyond their boundaries, work as a team and to support each other.
The Quest culminates in the devising of a strategy and a life action plan to help participants put their goals into effect in the world. Participants are then fully supported by a one to one mentor for 12 months following their direct participation in the programme.
